Though Small Enterprises have tremendous potential for the growth of the region, they lack access to modern technology, training, marketing and a continuous institutional hand holding. With this in mind, birth of a unique concept- technology centre took birth. Collaboration with Swiss Agency For Development And Co-operation in Sept 1998, on Minor Minerals and Rural Tourism came as a major boost for infrastructure requirements. With an initial budget of Rs 2.54 crore, this project is being executed in two phases. The first phase will see recruitment's, training, study tours, survey & research along with consultancy to lay down the foundation for effective implementation during the second phase.

Objectives of SDC Project:

• To Promote and develop of Minor Minerals and Rural Tourism sub-sectors with special emphasis on small enterprises and women entrepreneurs.

• To provide non-financial services in the sub-sectional clusters.

• To strengthen human and institutional needs of UCCI for building its capacity to become the primary implementation agency.

• To build a network of support institutions for training and other technical assistance.

• To work towards building up and strengthening of trade associations and resource organizations
